Addressing the inaugural session of Horticulture E-Conference on Monday, he said that the population of the country was likely to double by 2050 whereas decreasing agricultural land, traditional ways of farming and post-harvest losses were posing a serious threat to food security. “The country is importing vegetable seeds up to 90% and it can save billions of rupees by producing quality seed,” he said.
